2017 Melbourne Poker Championship

13 Jun '17

Crown Melbourne is excited to announce the 2017 Melbourne Poker Championships, beginning Wednesday 2 August. Featuring 15 events across 12 days, the Melbourne Poker Championships schedule offers buy-ins as low as $175 to earn your place in the record books.

The series kicks off with Crown Poker's traditional No Limit Holdem Accumulator, where just $175 ensures you are in the running to share a guaranteed prizepool of at least $50,000. 4 Opening flights allow numerous chances to progress, as well as 4 chances to secure multiple bags of chips with all stacks combined on Day 2. Should your Opening Event endeavours fall short, Event 2 - Hyper Turbo NLHE 10/10/10 is sure to fill the Poker Room on Saturday 5 August. With a 10k start stack and 10-minute blind levels, only those with nerves of steel will prevail.

Event 3 - NLHE Deepstack plays alongside Event 4 $350 8-Game - the latter will require eight different poker disciplines to be mastered to conquer this field. Monday 7 August sees PLO Terminator - yes, that's right, simply knock out a player and collect $100 - simple as that!

As the working week continues, Event 6 $550 6-Max and Event 7 $1100 6-Max will both test your skills on the short-handed game. Event 8 the following day ($550 Bounty) is new to the schedule and will see a $500 target on one player per table.

Friday 11 August sees a new event enter the arena: $5,000 High Roller Shot Clock Challenge. This will run as a Single Day event and with 4 scheduled satellites on the days prior, it's guaranteed to generate an enormous prizepool.

Melbourne Poker Championships Main Event Flight 1 commences 6.10pm on Friday 11 August. If unsuccessful, Saturday's Flight 2 offers a "repechage" format where another attempt can be made to secure your place on Day 2. With an expected total Main Event prizepool in excess of $500,000, you do not want to miss your chance at taking out this trophy!

However, should your Main Event adventures be unsuccessful, there are still numerous events to whet the appetite of any poker player. A Pot Limit Omaha HiLo and a "Shot Clock" Teams event appear Saturday and Sunday night respectively, while Event 12 NLHE Shot Clock Terminator runs alongside Main Event Day 2.

To round out the championship, No Limit Holdem/Pot Limit Omaha will run concurrently with the Main Event Final Table. Event 15 - Last Chance Turbo No Limit Holdem (as the title suggests) will be your last chance to secure a Championship trophy - and at just $175 to enter, there's sure to be a huge field of "trophy hunters".

Daily $90 Step 1 satellites and direct-entry Mega satellites begin Saturday 22 July in the Crown Poker Room.
